The Revstar range of guitars takes inspiration from Café-Racer motorcycles of the London scene in the '60s. The stylish outline, specially-chosen colour combinations, and elegantly understated design features create a guitar with the visual appeal of a classic instrument, yet with a modern edge that will really stand out on stage. The double cutaway design, minimalist headstock, and distinct scratch-plate come together to create a guitar with a quiet-confidence and mature aesthetic that wouldn't look out of place with classic guitars from 50 years ago.
Despite the vintage-inspiration, the Revstar RS420 is super-comfortable to play, courtesy of its body contours. A tummy-cut and deep forearm contour means you'll be able to play long into the night without any discomfort, whether stood up or sat down. The set-neck design with uniquely ergonomic neck joint also creates a smooth playing-feel when you're reaching the top frets for those high-range solo moments.
The RS420's neck has a thoroughly modern playing feel to enable easy soloing and rhythm work. The rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium frets create a smooth playing surface for the left hand, while the double cutaway body and smooth set-neck joint provide no barriers to the top frets. The fingerboard has a very modern 13-3/4'' radius which is only slightly rounded to enable easy string bends and excellent balance across the strings.
The body and neck are crafted from mahogany for a warm and resonant sound with great sustain. This tonewood is often chosen for classic rock and blues guitars due to its warmth and mid-focus, yet it performs equally well in blues, country, jazz, and many more styles. A maple top enhances the guitar's bright overtones, bringing out the top-end of your sound and helping harmonics ring with clarity.
The Revstar RS420 is mounted with two VH3 humbucker pickups. These units have alnico V magnets which provide a warm and powerful sound with a highly musical response. They really bring out the balance of the body's warm mahogany core with bright maple top and can help you create biting bridge-position tones, mellow neck-position sounds, and the snappy combined-pickup sound, all with great nuance and balance. This combination is ideal for multiple genres of music and will let you explore many different sounds.
An additional Dry Switch is accessed via the Push/Pull tone control and provides the sound of a split-humbucker for a delicate single-coil tone. It achieves this using a passive filter which is designed to give the perfect frequency response. By filtering out the low frequencies, this switch gives the punch and clarity of a single-coil minus the associated hum and often "hollow"-sounding tone from splitting a humbucker. This gives you a far more balanced and usable single coil tone, radically expanding the tonal potential of this guitar.
