The module’s two channels offer a wide range of controlled gain textures. Each channel has its own volume and gain controls that help you build rhythm and lead voices with distinct character.
Independent Gain Lo or Hi switches alter the strength of the preamp stage so you can move from tight mid-gain articulation to saturated distortion that retains clarity across the strings. This variety mirrors the broad palette associated with the original Savage amplifier. It supports intricate rhythm styles and high-intensity lead passages without losing definition.
Global Bass, Mid and Treble controls allow you to adjust the tonal balance of both channels with accuracy. These controls respond smoothly to small adjustments which makes it possible to tune the module for different instruments or cabinet types.
The Contour switch adds another layer of shaping by adjusting the attitude of the upper midrange. Engaging it brings forward attack and presence which suits articulate riffing or focused lead work. With these controls working together, the module provides a shaping range that accommodates precise tone building.
Two 12AX7 valves deliver the harmonic texture, compression and dynamic feel expected of an Engl design. These valves maintain note clarity during high-gain use and respond well to changes in picking intensity. The Cathode Select switch provides three configurations for the input stage so you can adjust the bass behaviour and overall tightness.
Position 1 is the preset for the Savage module and uses a 1.5K resistor with a 22uf capacitor. The additional positions offer alternative responses inspired by other voicing traditions. This feature helps the module adapt to different tunings or playing approaches while retaining the core Savage identity.
The module integrates into the wider Synergy ecosystem which is designed for flexible recording and performance environments. Its interchangeable structure allows you to combine it with other modules to create a rig that suits your musical requirements without increasing size or complexity.
