Mercury-8’s dual-layer design gives you up to 32 voices of polyphony in a single preset. It’s a simple way to create thicker pads, evolving textures, or keyboard splits that stay responsive under complex playing. Each layer includes its own drift and condition controls, letting you dial in anything from a tightly tuned modern voice to a gently ageing analogue feel. The multi-voice mode adds further variation across pitch, pan, filters, and envelopes, so you can build movement naturally without relying on external modulation.
The four-slot modulation matrix is designed much like other Cherry Audio synths, immediate and flexible. Simply click a destination, move a control, and you’re patched. With dozens of available sources and targets, plus assignable depth, it gives you the kind of semi-modular flexibility that encourages experimentation. The arpeggiator and polyphonic 16×4 step sequencer slot comfortably into this workflow, offering transposition, humanise options, and tempo sync when you want patterns to feel more organic.
